Set-Up is Easy

01

INSTALL TOILET SEAT

Remove your old toilet seat and install the new Bemis toilet seat. A bag of screws and a toilet seat installation guide are included in your box. Also find detailed instructions in video.

tip
Put litter box next to the toilet in the bathroom for a few days. Some customers will raise it off the floor a little bit as an additional step. It gets the cat used to stepping up into the cat box. But you MUST remove the litter box when you start training with The Cat Throne.

Install the specially crafted Bemis toilet seat with patented clips.

02

CAT THRONE SEAT

Clip the Cat Throne seat onto your toilet seat while it’s in the upright position. Once attached, the Cat Throne seat can be easily lifted up or lowered as needed during training—and/or left in place for everyday use afterward.

tip
The Cat Throne seat provides extra surface area and a non-slip texture to help keep your cat balanced and safe during training and beyond. Essential for older cats and small cats. Remember—don’t put the toilet seat lid down!

REMOVING TRAYS

To remove a tray, lift it up by using the ears to disengage the clips on the back, then set it aside.

When snapping back in tray, put the front end in first, then snap the back in.

03

FIRST SOLID TRAY

Snap in the first solid tray. Fill halfway with flushable litter. While training, remove the tray and set it aside. Lift the Cat Throne seat up and use the toilet as usual. Flush any poop or used clumps of kitty litter. Snap the tray back in.

tip
Mix in some of your cats usual litter into the first tray. You should even add some used kitty litter & 💩 so your cat understands this is where they are supposed to go to the bathroom.

Snap in the first solid tray. Use the ears to remove tray and set aside to use the toilet or scoop.

FUN FACT

Having a small step stool to make it easy and comfortable for your cat to climb up onto the toilet is key. Especially important during training and also when your cat gets older. I leave the little stool next to the toilet all the time. My cat loves the extra support. We offer a few choices in our Cat Throne shop.

04

SECOND TRAY

After you cat has mastered the solid tray, snap in the second tray with the small hole. Your cat will start to get used to the idea of a hole in the bottom of their litter box.

tip
A little litter goes a long way. Scoop out the litter that has clumped and flush it. This tofu flushable litter is safe for plumbing and septic systems.

TOFU LITTER

The Cat Throne system uses flushable, tofu-based kitty litter for training. It’s biodegradable, eco-friendly, and free of harmful chemicals. Our flushable kitty litter sample is included with the The Cat Throne system. You will only need it for a few weeks. We offer larger bags for continued training or multiple-cat households.

05

THIRD TRAY

Snap in the third tray with largest hole. Your cat should be getting more comfortable to the hole in the tray. Use the brush to tidy up.

tip
No system is completely mess free, and a lot depends on your cat(s), but I like to keep a hand-held vacuum close to the toilet as well as my tidy-up brush.

Use less and less litter during this last training tray.

06

JUST THE CAT THRONE

Once the trays are removed, your cat is potty trained using the Cat Throne seat. Simply lift or lower the seat for human use. If your cat is young and agile, you may choose to remove the Cat Throne seat and transition them to the toilet seat alone.

tip
You can remove the Cat Throne seat after training, but it’s more humane to keep it on. As cats age, balance becomes harder, and a narrow toilet seat can be unsafe. Leaving the Cat Throne seat installed gives your cat a stable, supportive place to go—now and in the future.

Lift The Cat Throne seat up and down when you need to use the toilet.

07

POTTY TRAINED

Now it’s up to you and your cat to decide whether you want to remove the Cat Throne seat altogether or keep it on. If you choose to unclip and remove the Cat Throne seat, remember to hold onto it.

tip
The Cat Throne seat can be easily unclipped and reattached at any time. Even if you remove it, be sure to keep it—you’ll want it later as your cat ages and needs extra stability.

Easily remove The Cat Throne seat by lifting it straight up to unclip.

FUN FACT

When cats poop 💩 on the toilet, they need extra support to stay balanced. The Cat Throne seat provides a wide, non-slip surface that keeps your cat stable, safe, and comfortable—during training and for years to come.
